Combray Design

The textile embroidery studio Combray Design is above all the story of a common passion between sisters Laure and Aurélie Hug. Both passionate about art and beautiful things, these two interior design enthusiasts have chosen to combine their experience in interior design and art history to put their talents at the service of textile arts.

Since 2013, the Parisian duo has been working in tandem to imagine and embellish all the textiles that pass through their hands, whether wool, linen, leather or even satin; thus coming to collaborate with the greatest decorators and interior designers to develop unique textile creations such as curtains, cushions, furniture pieces or wall upholstery.

While Laure, based in Paris, travels around Europe to meet new clients, Aurélie works in a workroom located in Brooklyn that she has the pleasure of sharing with Studio Anthost, also specialized in textile finishing. This workshop, combining two exceptional skills, is located a few minutes away from our New York office, where Combray Design displays some of its beautiful samples that we are proud to present to our clients during their visit.

This creative synergy encourages the avant-garde vision of Laure and Aurélie Hug, who aim to modernize furniture embroidery by finding the perfect balance between traditional techniques and contemporary aesthetics. Strongly inspired by fashion, art history, decorative arts or their travels, the two sisters imagine each year a new collection whose creations then come to life in India, in a workshop in Mumbai.

After approaching the American market where Laure and Aurélie Hug have developed beautiful collaborations, the textile designers now aim to focus on their creations of wall upholstery in order to give life to custom embroidered landscape panoramas. Our teams are proud to have collaborated with Combray Design on behalf of talented designers and architects such as Robert Couturier, Pierre Yovanovitch and Aamir Khandwala.
