From November 5th to 8th, our ateliers partnered with Royère to present an ephemeral atelier at the heart of their New York gallery. During this intimate event, visitors had the opportunity to watch the first steps in the making of Jean Royère’s legendary Ours Polaire armchair, live.
For this unique demonstration, our upholsterer Joanna Favre, specially coming from Lyon, was accompanied by Matthieu Duranel, Production Manager at Royère and Meilleur Ouvrier de France in upholstery. Together, they revealed—day after day—the secrets behind the creation of this iconic piece: Day 1: the frame, Day 2: the seat, Day 3: the backrest, Day 4: the structure.
The gallery’s hushed atmosphere offered a privileged setting for interior designers and leading American designers who came to celebrate this encounter between exceptional craftsmanship, heritage, and creativity.
