We first met Romain Jouffre and his team in New York when they opened their showroom there. We have always had a deep admiration for traditional upholstery methods, which led us to begin collaborating with Romain and the team on many client orders, for upholstery pieces and drapery. Over the years, we expanded and developed our own collection and worked with Jouffre to create our signature slipper chair and ottoman, sofas, and dining chairs, all crafted with the highest level of expertise. It’s always an exciting process to dive into the fine details with the team and create pieces that embody such a high level of craftsmanship.
> Visit websiteNestled between the vibrant neighborhoods of NoHo and the East Village, Astor Place is an iconic crossroads in lower Manhattan, celebrated for its artistic spirit, eclectic architecture, and effortlessly chic blend of bohemian charm and refined sophistication. In this dynamic setting, Studio Tinatin Kilaberidze has elegantly reimagined an apartment, harmoniously combining collectible furniture, custom-made creations, and carefully considered architectural details.
La The apartment’s main living area gracefully blends serene shades of beige and blue, beautifully complementing an exceptional collection of artworks, including striking paintings by renowned Japanese artists Kazuo Shiraga and Jiro Yoshihara. Wood serves as a subtle, unifying element, appearing throughout the space from refined lamp bases and coffee tables to René Gabriel’s signature elm chairs, each reflecting the designer’s exquisite taste. A bespoke, gently curved kitchen island elegantly defines the culinary space. In the living room, guided by Tinatin’s artistic vision, we created an expansive curved sofa accompanied by decorative cushions, placed thoughtfully on a custom Federica Tondato rug and beautifully interacting with the room’s impressive circular windows. Luxurious custom-made draperies, crafted in our workroom from fine Holland & Sherry fabric and featuring delicate floral headings, were installed onsite by our expert upholsterers.
In the bedrooms, furnishings sourced from prestigious galleries add an unmistakable sense of luxury, exemplified by an eye-catching floor lamp from Hervé Van der Straeten. Several custom pieces were also thoughtfully crafted in our workroom, including a contemporary armchair featuring our inviting Slipper seat upholstered in sumptuous Holland & Sherry bouclé fabric. Elegant floor-to-ceiling blackout curtains were installed to ensure privacy without compromising the breathtaking city views.
