Ateliers Jouffre developed detailed technical drawings followed by the creation of prototypes. This stage was essential for refining proportions, comfort, and finishes to achieve perfectly executed pieces. We shared all furniture designs and fabric selections—made in consultation with the clients—to ensure perfect coherence between creative intent and the final result.

In the Moroccan city of Casablanca, interior designer Ali Lahlou, founder of his eponymous studio, has designed the interior of a truly unique residence. Blending Parisian codes with Moroccan inspirations, he delivers a project that reflects the city itself: cosmopolitan, bold, and deeply rooted in its context.

A graduate of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona—following a foundational year in Global Design in Paris that profoundly shaped his creative vision—Ali Lahlou began his career at a prestigious New York firm. Since returning to Morocco in 2017, he has led numerous projects with a commitment to developing a singular signature that merges contemporary sensibility with a deep appreciation for artisanal craftsmanship.

Designed for a young couple, the 600 m² home is nestled in the heart of the sought-after Anfa Supérieur district. The spirit of the residence evokes the refinement of a Parisian apartment, immediately apparent upon entry thanks to the chevron parquet flooring. The architect has established a genuine dialogue between tradition and modernity, where a soothing color palette creates a warm atmosphere, allowing the furniture to tell its own story.

While iconic pieces like Michel Ducaroy’s Togo armchair are featured, the majority of the seating for this project was custom-designed. This choice reflects the designer’s desire to master proportions, materials, and the identity of each piece to ensure they integrate naturally into the spatial narrative.

The fabrication of numerous pieces was entrusted to our artisans, who crafted the solid beechwood upholstery frames before finalizing the upholstery fill and covering. "Ateliers Jouffre developed detailed technical drawings followed by the creation of prototypes. This stage was essential for refining proportions, comfort, and finishes to achieve perfectly executed pieces. We shared all furniture designs and fabric selections—made in consultation with the clients—to ensure perfect coherence between creative intent and the final result," explains Ali Lahlou. The home features contemporary sofas, armchairs, and ottomans, as well as dining chairs upholstered in burnished velvet, surrounding a ceramic and brass table by Cattelan. "This project marked a turning point for us [in Morocco] because it was the very first time we integrated CNC (computer numerical control) cutting into our manufacturing process. We had to step out of our comfort zone and engage in a real development phase, particularly for the dining chairs," proudly shares Bilal Fellouh, Production Manager at our Rabat workshops.

Our teams of upholsterers also played a key role in the project, crafting and installing various pairs of wave-fold sheer curtains, blackout drapes, and Roman shades throughout the bedrooms and common living areas.
